Robert L. Talley, DDS, Accepts Invitation To Speak At
American Academy Of Craniofacial Pain
20th Anniversary Symposium

Local Dentist Gains National Recognition for Leadership in Dental Sleep Medicine At Same Time Professional Organization He Co-Founded Prepares to Return to Oklahoma City to Celebrate Its 20th Anniversary

March 1, 2005 – Norman, OK – Dr. Robert L. Talley, the only dentist in Oklahoma certified by the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine ( www.dentalsleepmed.org), will share insights gleaned from 30+ years of diagnosing and treating patients who suffer from head, neck and facial pain; temporomandibular disorders; and sleep disorders at the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (www.aacfp.org/calendar.html) 20th Anniversary Symposium on August 5-6, 2005, at the Renaissance Convention Center Hotel in Oklahoma City, OK. More than 300 dentists, physicians and clinical technicians from around the world are expected to attend. The symposium will mark the 20th anniversary of the AACP, an organization Dr. Talley co-founded in 1985 and which held its very first clinical symposium in Oklahoma City two decades ago.

Dr. Talley’s lecture will be titled, “Sleep Disorders, Craniofacial Pain and TMD: What Every Dentist Should Know.” When asked why he accepted the invitation to address this topic with colleagues in the dental community, Dr. Talley explained:

Every dentist in clinical practice has an obligation to his or her patients to recognize signs and symptoms of Sleep Disorders, TMD and Craniofacial Pain. Treatment outcomes for virtually all areas of dentistry can be significantly influenced by any or all of them. And this is why generalists and specialist alike need an accurate, effective and efficient means of identifying patients with Sleep Disorders, TMD and Craniofacial Pain.”

Dr. Talley, who began his career in restorative dentistry, has been in private practice since 1971 and is Director of Craniofacial Pain Associates of Oklahoma (www.tmj-pain.com) in Norman, OK. The practice is directed toward conservative (non-surgical) care through interdisciplinary management of patients who suffer from sleep-disordered breathing (i.e., snoring and sleep apnea), temporomandibular disorders, plus headache, neck and facial pain. He is one of fourteen (14) founding members of the AACP, serves as Program Arrangements Chairman, and is the President-Elect. Dr. Talley is a Diplomate of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain, American Board of Orofacial Pain, and American Academy of Pain Management. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics.
